INEIGHT CASE STUDY:

BRASFIELD & GORRIE

ESTIMATING ACCURACY SUPPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE BOOM

Brasfield & Gorrie first adopted InEight Estimate in the 1990s after team members who had used it at previous companies recommended the platform. Decades later, it remains a foundational tool for the company’s estimating team, especially as it expands in the heavy civil and industrial markets.

In recent years, the Southeastern U.S. has experienced rapid population growth, driving demand for new infrastructure like roads, bridges, water systems, and power facilities. As Myers shares, “There’s been a tremendous amount of opportunity in the heavy civil and industrial spaces. InEight has been at the core of us being able to meet that demand. If we didn’t have a stable and solid estimating platform, we wouldn’t be able to respond.”

One of the most valuable aspects of InEight Estimate is its flexibility across projects and client expectations. The estimating framework allows teams to separate costs and break down the price in ways that align with each client’s specific requirements.

InEight also enables comprehensive productivity calculations, with the ability to estimate work based on shifts, hours, man-hours per unit, and more.

“The quote management system is extremely powerful. I can look at an activity from different angles – how many days, shifts, or hours it will take for a crew – there's lots of different ways we look at those things,” Myers says.

With jobs that encompass a wide range of complexity, some estimates may be thousands of lines long and require multiple team members – but accuracy is always the priority.

“It’s not about speed; it’s about getting the right number and feeling confident in the program,” Myers says. “Of course, we need efficiency for people not to pull their hair out if they're doing a 2,000 line estimate, but we need a certain level of detail. The robustness of being able to defend and feel good about what we’re putting together is critical.”

Beyond the technical tools, Brasfield & Gorrie also appreciates the trusted partnership it has built with the InEight team over the years.

“The InEight team is fantastic, some of the best people we work with across all our tech vendors,” says Chris Reeder, Preconstruction Technology Manager. “They have a solid reputation with our IT and development teams.”
