INEIGHT CASE STUDY
CHEMEX

FRAGMENTED INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Like many companies in the construction sector, Chemex acquired a variety of point solutions over the years. The company was on separate platforms for estimating, scheduling, timesheets, documentation, and other key process areas with little or no connection. Employees used manual workarounds to move data from system to system. While this was by no means the most efficient way of working, it enabled the company to complete projects successfully. Looking to the future, however, the Chemex recognized the need to evolve. Alisher Kamalov, Project Controls Director, explains: “When I started at Chemex, it was very clear that our existing set-up couldn’t support us as the complexity and scale of our projects continued to grow. We had important functions managed in isolated spreadsheets and even our industry-standard software was being used inconsistently across the business.”
Without formal project controls, procedures, and processes, Chemex struggled to maintain visibility of project status, performance, and costs. As a result, there was no convenient way to measure and optimize earned value—a measure of the value of work completed to date and of project performance on a cost and schedule basis. “We wanted to connect workflows across separate business functions so the technology would just disappear into the background,” said Kamalov. “Our goal was to implement consistent and reliable processes across our organization. The InEight suite of products is helping us accomplish this goal ahead of schedule.”
“We wanted the technology to just disappear into the background. InEight provided a unified information system that made it happen.”
